What is SLAPshow.com?
Ok, Ok. So SLAPshow.com is a catchy web address but you may be asking, Just what is SLAP anyway? The Sound, Looks And Performance Association (SLAP) serves to provide fair, un-biased rules for car shows, sound pressure level and sound quality competitions. Simply put, SLAP stands for Sound, Looks And Performance. These are the three most important aspects of a vehicle to a true automotive enthusiast. You may care more about one more than another, but that's cool too. To understand what we're all about, considered each area separately.
SOUND
A cranking stereo is a must-have whether you're cruising the town or cranking it up at the nearest sound-off. SLAP sound-off events are hosted all over the country by car stereo retailers, such as Tweeter, HiFi Buys, Car Toys, and car show promoters such as the Truxpo Truck Tour. Now SLAP will finally have an event right here in New York at Island Fest! Be sure to get in line and see what your cranking stereo will produce in Sound Pressure Level!
LOOKS
What good is a vehicle if it doesn't look cool? SLAP gives custom car & truck show enthusiast a place to show off their rides and compete with one another for awards. Unlike many so-called car shows, SLAP judges don't pull scores out of their butts. SLAP has revolutionized custom car show judging by utilizing a standardized scoresheet, scoring parameters and classifications. We let the competitor present the vehicle to the judge to explain every aspect that has went into their vehicle. If only all car shows were judged this way. We at Island Fest are going to be using a modified version of this format for the most comprehensive scoring possible.
PERFORMANCE
Admit it. You're the guy who squeals tires, revs up at red lights and can't stand to follow anyone on the highway. Yea, we are too. That's why we support cool amateur racing organizations such as SCCA and the One Lap of America. When leaving our event, PLEASE respect the local authorities and laws and drive safe! When don’t want any accidents, and we want to see you at a future event.
